Stamping on Layouts

I do a lot of stamping and it is becoming more popular at My Happy Place.  Here is a blog post that I thought y'all might be interested in.
It's about stamping on layouts, something I love to do,
but just don't do very often.

I think I need to make an effort to do more stamping on my layouts.
Anyone want to join me?

Here are a few layouts that I have made in the past that I have used stamping on.
This layout the entire title
"Kelsie Angel Baby" was done with stamps
and then colored with watercolor crayons.

On this layout the JOY and the Christmas trees were stamped
The JOY was colored and the trees were fussy cut.

When my nephew and niece got married they used peacock feathers in their wedding.  In the scrapbook I made for them this was the title page.
The large feather was on the paper, but the smaller one was done with a stamp and gold embossing powder.

Here are some more of the peacock feather stamps.
I stamped them with VersaMark ink and then went over them with
Perfect Pearls for the color.

On this layout, the shoe at the bottom of the page was stamped and colored.
I just happened to find a stamp that the shoes were almost the same as the shoes Renee wore for the wedding.

These are a few ways that stamps can be used in scrapbooking.
Why not give it a try?
If you need some instruction or help in any way, be sure to ask, I'm there to help anytime!

Technique

Want to learn some new techniques?
How about this one?  Simple!
You know those acetate packages that are so hard to get into,
then you cut up and throw away?
You know the ones that Cricut cartridges, new tools etc. come in!
Well, don't throw them away!
Bring them in to My Happy Place and I'll show you what you can do with them to repurpose them for a card or a layout.
Here's a card that I used some acetate on.
Ask me how next time you stop in.
I'll be glad to show you how!
All you need is a piece of acetate
and we have the Cuttlebug and folders to work with.

Card Making

Cards don't have to be complicated.
Here are 3 cards I made recently at My Happy Place.
This first one is very simple and easy to put together.
All you need is a few coorinating scraps, a paper cutter, a stamp and a pen or two. There are always people who have stamps that you can borrow if you don't have any of your own.
Or choose from some of the ones that My Happy Place offers for your use.

The second one is a little more work, but still simple and easy to make.
When you come to My Happy Place, ask me how I made my U stamp.

This third card was a bit more work yet, but still pretty basic, just need to use a few stamps and the Cuttlebug and some Spellbinders dies. We have a Cuttlebug and some dies for your use at My Happy Place.
Just ask one of the "Scrap Queens" how to use them and we'll show you how.

Thanks for stopping by today, I hope to see you at My Happy Place soon.

Christmas in July class!

Jennifer Peters stopped in one day to show us some ideas that she had for classes and I'll tell you she has some great things going on.  This project is just wonderful.  The only thing you have to add is your own recipes and pictures!  It would make a wonderful gift for a bridal shower, birthday, Christmas or something to keep for yourself!
Now accepting pre-payments for our CHRISTMAS IN JULY heirloom recipe album class. Mark this on the calendar as it is one you won't want to miss! Class is Tuesday July 24 at 6:30. Cost is $52 for album, kit, and classroom instruction. I recommend that you start pulling out recipes that you will want to include and making sure you have some photos to go with. Pictures of people, food and also occasions will work nicely in this project.

Stamping on pages from old books

One of my recent favorite techniques is stamping on pages from old books.
I love the look of the old paper, the old print and the stamp over the text.
Here are a few cards that I have made recently at My Happy Place using this technique.
The borders on this card and the one below, were done with one of the punches available for use at My Happy Place.
All these stamps are from either QKR Stampede or Eureka! Stamps
and are from my personal collection.

This last card, I didn't stamp onto the page, but used the page as a background for a couple images that I stamped, colored and fussy cut.

I hope you have enjoyed seeing these cards and gotten some inspiration from them.
If you have any questions about this technique feel free to leave them in a comment or ask me next time you stop in to My Happy Place.
Hope to see you soon!

Welcome to the newest feature of My Happy Place!

Hello and welcome to the all new My Happy Place Blog!
As you can see it is a work in progress.
We have decided that a blog would serve our friends better than our website did.
We will be working on the blog to get it in shape and make it a place where you can find our schedule, tutorials on some of our favorite crafting techniques and where you can enjoy some of the projects made at our studio.
Be sure to put us into your "favorites" and check back often.
You never know what you will find that you will enjoy.
